Siloam Mission Youth Orchestra (SMYO)

Founded in Fall 2020 by Sunmi Jun through Siloam Korean Church, Siloam Mission Youth Orchestra (SMYO) began with fewer than ten students and has grown into a community of approximately 40 young musicians in grades 3–12.

Under the musical direction of Youngjung Kim, students playing strings, woodwinds, and percussion gather every Sunday to develop their musical skills with the guidance of professional music educators.

SMYO is more than a youth orchestra. It is a community where young musicians discover how their talents can become a blessing to others.

We believe music is a gift from God, meant to be shared with the world. As a Christian ministry, SMYO seeks to share God's love through music while welcoming and serving people from all walks of life.

Through music, we hope to bring joy, encouragement, and meaningful connections to individuals and communities.

SMYO's mission extends beyond traditional concerts. Our students share their music with homeless communities, senior living facilities, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and various community organizations.

Through these experiences, students learn that music is not simply about performing, but about giving, connecting, and making a difference in the lives of others.

SMYO has made four mission trips to Guatemala, where students taught music to underserved children and helped establish a children's orchestra. In Mexico, our students have participated in street busking, sharing music and joy with local communities.

These experiences remind us that music is a universal language that connects people across cultures and borders.

We strive to develop young musicians who grow not only in musical excellence but also in faith, compassion, and a heart for service.

Through local outreach and international missions, SMYO hopes to continue sharing God's love, inspiring others, and making a lasting difference through music.

"We play not just to be heard, but to serve, connect, and share God's love."
